Certification

Buyers of technology – and particularly people buying technologies to meet the needs of people with disabilities – must be able to trust that what they are buying will work for that individual.  They need to know what a product does, what it does not do, and how it connects to other technologies around it.  The goal of Techquity’s certification regimen is to engender trust by removing doubt.  Techquity’s neutral, third-party certification approach ensures that consumers have a consistent way to know what a given product or service meets the unique needs created by their disability.

Where We're Headed

Certification Builds Trust

Certification is crucial to building consumer trust, particularly in highly complicated spaces.  Consumers buying technologies do not have the time – or even the skills – to fully research key aspects of technology.  Certified solutions that are proven to meet specific needs allow consumers to buy with confidence.

Certification Encourages Investment

Technology producers recognize that certifications serve as critical marketing tools.  Because certification builds trust, certified vendors will have an advantage in the marketplace which can help them realize higher returns on their development investment – thereby encouraging re-investment in additional technologies.

Certification Focuses Innovation

By clearly defining what a product must deliver to be certified as meeting the needs associated with a specific disability, technology producers are encouraged to focus on delivering those capabilities in the best way and at the lowest cost, rather than seeking to win through brand or by locking customers into proprietary solutions.
